Job description

We are recruiting a Part time Bookkeeper for a new Restaurant opening in the Dublin 4 area. Hours will be c 15 per week and ideally will be worked over 2 days but with some flexibility and hybrid model.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Record daily sales, cash flow, and expenses
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and POS reports
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable

Payroll Administration

  • Process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for ~15 employees
  • Track staff hours, tips, overtime, and leave
  • Ensure tax compliance
  • Maintain employee payroll records
  • Uploading to ros, liaising with revenue

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process supplier invoices and schedule payments
  • Track outstanding balances and follow up where necessary
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare VAT/sales tax returns
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations
  • Assist with year-end accounts and liaise with external accountant

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports
  • Track key metrics (food cost %, labor cost %, profit margins)
  • Highlight discrepancies or unusual spending patterns
  • Support budgeting and forecasting

Cash Handling & Controls

  • Reconcile daily cash takings and investigate discrepancies
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls
  • Monitor waste, shrinkage, and cost efficiency

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in hospitality or retail
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Familiarity with POS systems and cash reconciliation
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accounting or bookkeeping certification (IATI, Pt Qualified)
  • Understanding of inventory and cost control systems an advantage

  • Good communication skills for liaising with management and staff

Working Relationships

  • Reports to: Restaurant Owner / General Manager
  • Works closely with: Head Chef, Floor Manager, External Accountant

Hours: c 15hrs pw. Rate: €20-23ph. 1 day required on site per week. Hybrid.
