We are recruiting a ‘Head of Information Technology’ for a well respected private school in the Dublin 2 area.

This school caters for up to 10,000 learners a year in a learning environment technologically advanced as many third level institutions.

We are seeking a hands on Head of IT to lead and work alongside a small technical team, taking direct ownership of the IT infrastructure, cybersecurity and key business systems, managing a team also while overseeing a 60 vendor supplier ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the Executive Team on technology trends, risks and opportunities, serving as the principal technology advisor to the school.
  • Lead, mentor and work alongside a technical team of 5.
  • Directly manage IT infrastructure – networks, servers, cloud, end-user devices and classroom AV – and core systems (iSAMS, Microsoft 365, Moodle, Salesforce), including backup and disaster recovery.
  • Own the cybersecurity framework day-to-day, from security controls and monitoring to incident response, and ensure GDPR/data protection compliance.
  • Manage the IT budget, ~60-supplier ecosystem and software licensing, monitoring performance and value for money.
  • Lead and support customer-focused IT service delivery, delivering IT projects on time and on budget.
  • Partner with academic leaders to embed digital technology and AI literacy in the curriculum.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field. (min 7 years experience )
  • Significant hands-on IT leadership experience, ideally in a complex educational environment, with a track record of both setting direction and delivering technically.
  • Strong, current technical expertise across enterprise systems, cloud platforms (Azure/Microsoft 365), networking and cybersecurity.
  • Familiarity with the school’s core platform advantageous: Windows Server, Hyper V, Azure/Azure AD, Panopto, Moodle LMS, Cisco networking.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, comfortable balancing daily hands-on delivery with strategic priorities.
  • Experience working in an educational organisation would be beneficial but not necessary.
  • Suitable candidates must have fluent english speaking skills.
  • Hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. Some out of ours work required on occasion.
  • Salary €100k
